Bentley - Project Torpedalo Stage 1 Hull Test Results

The Project Torpedalo team are full of praise for the SikaBlock M80 polyurethane styling board.

SikaBlock M80 has been used to produce three hull themes for tank testing at the University of Newcastle. Traditonally these model hulls have been produced using wooden and resin laminating materials, and can take up to 3 weeks to produce. However, by selecting the M80 it was possible to machine, direct from the CAD data, and produce accurate models using 5axis milling technology provided by Concept Group International (CGI) in Conventry. The SikaBlock M80 surface finish was superb and ready for painting straight from the machine, and this was all done within a week.

The resulting models were also well received by the testing team at the University of Newcastle who have already expressed an interest in using this method for their future test models.

SikaBlock M80, with a density of 0.08 g/cm3 is ideal for design and styling and has very low thermal expansion. It can be machined or hand worked and has a high quality surface finish.
